My first english fic. I hope youfll like it. Disclaimer: I do not own Cardcaptor Sakura. It belongs to CLAMP, Kodansha and Nelvana. * * * The Locket It was a cold, cloudless winter night. The stars twinkled in the sky like tiny diamonds. The trees were naked from the fallen leaves and looked like ghostly shadows in the darkness. Light, white snow covered the ground like a soft blanket. A sixteen year-old young girl sat alone on a bench in the park. Her long greyish hair flew in the wind and would slowly dance across her shoulders and around her porcelain face that was blank from any emotion. Her eyes, a startling emerald green, stared into nothingness. She suddenly looked up at the full moon; a beautifull pearl in the sky, bright and peacefull. Everything that she wasnft feeling inside right now. She sighed deeply and enviously at the sphere. The girl abruptly stood up and headed towards her best friendfs and cousinfs house, knowing that she could talk with her about her situation. Even if she would dissaprove of it too... * * * Ding dong Loud and hurried footsteps could be heard from the other side of the door. A pretty girl with short brown hair appeared at the entrance. gNadeshiko-chan! What are you doing here so late? Oh you must be freezing! Come in, come in.h said the girl. gThank you, Sonomi-chanh replied politely Nedeshiko. She then proceeded to take off her blue coat, black gloves and scarf. Sonomi took her by the hand and lead her upstairs to her bedroom. gYou take a seet here, Nadeshiko-chanh Sonomi said, motioning to a comfortable purple chair, gand Ifll go make you some hot chocolate, okay?h gYes. Thank you, Sonomi-chan.h When her cousin ran out the door, Nadeshiko took her time to look around the room. Even though shefd been here often before, little things would be added to Sonomifs large collection of gstuffh. Like a new stuffed animal or a new poster on her wall. Then something caught Nadeshikofs eye: on the window panel was a magnificient bouquet of cherry blossoms and carnations, set in a green vase. With her long fingers, Nadeshiko brushed the supple petals. gDo you like them?h asked a voice. gWhat?h said Nadeshiko, startled. gI said do you like them. The flowers, I meanh repeated Sonomi, while setting a tray on the table with two mugs of hot cocoa and a plate of cookies. gOh yes. Theyfre lovely.h gIfm glad. I put them there because they remind me of you, Nadeshiko-chan.h gThat was very thoughfull of you, Sonomi-chan. Thank you.h Both sat opposite each other. A few minutes passed in silence. The emerald eyed girl sipped her cocoa quietly while she recollected her thoughts. Then someone broke the silence by saying: gNadeshiko-chan, is there something you wanted to tell me? Ifm assuming thatfs why you came to see me so late. Is something wrong? You know you can always talk to me and-h gActually,h interrupted her cousin, gthere is something Ifve been meaning to tell you but... I-I just didnft know how.h She took a deep breath. gIfm so confused Sonomi-chanh she whispered. Silent tears fell from her eyes. gMy poor Nadeshikoh murmured Sonomi. She took her in her arms and patted her head. gPlease tell me whatfs wrong. I hate to see you cry.h gI think Ifm in love, Sonomi-chan.h Sonomi pulled back quickly from her friend and looked into her misty eyes. gWhat?h gI think Ifm in love... with Kinomoto-senseih she said again. gWHAT!?h Sonomi practically screamed. gYou a-and h-him? In love?h Nadeshiko turned away from her cousin and put her hand in her skirtfs pocket. She then pulled out a gold chain with heart shaped pendant. She turned and faced Sonomi once again and showed her the necklace. gKinomoto-sensei gave this to me today. He told me ekeep it safef.h Sonomi took it from her hand and examined it. gItfs a-h gA locketh Nadeshiko finished. She looked down. gOpen it.h The blue eyed girl opened the locket and read on the left side the inscription written in golden letters: eI love youf. Simple, yet it revealed so much. And on the right side was a picture of a beautifull carnation. Sonomi was speachless. gSonomi-chan, please say somethingh pleaded Nadeshiko. She hated it when Sonomi would do this. It always made her feel so uncomfortable since Sonomi was such a talkative person. And now, at this moment, she needed her support more than anything. gI donft what to sayh she finally replied. gExcept...h Nadeshikofs head snapped up. gexcept... do you love him in return?h gI donft knowh she said. gI think I do but, Ifm not sure.h gWhy arenft you sure?h asked Sonomi. gWell, Ifve only met him not long ago. I know almost nothing about him: his past, what he likes. But...h gBut?h gBut everytime I see him,h continued Nadeshiko, geverytimes I speak to him, I have this feeling in the pit of my stomach, I feel light headed and happy. What is that feeling Sonomi-chan? Ifve felt it before but never as strongly. Tell me, what is that feeling?h Sonomi gazed at Nadeshikofs beautifull face. Her hair, soft like a cloud, ran down her back. Her eyes, a marvelous emerald, shone in the dim light. Her skin glowed. And her smile, a smile that would always wash away all her troubles, was hopefull and loving while she waited patiently for an answer. gLove, Nadeshiko-chan. That feeling you have, everytime you see the professor, itfs love.h gLove? Are you sure, Sonomi-chan?h She nodded. gI love him. I love Kinomoto-sensei.h Sonomi fought back the tears that treatened to fall down her cheeks. She would not cry while Nadeshiko was so happy. eBe strongf she thought. eIf not for you, than for her.f She smiled, despite the fact that she wanted to burst into tears. Seeing her precious Nadeshiko so content, she would not ruin this for her. Nadeshikofs soft and caring voice disturbed her thoughts: gSonomi-chan, will you be alright?h Surprised by her question, the young girl stared at her. gWhat do you mean?h Nadeshiko smiled her wonderfull smile. gI know how you feel, Sonomi-chan. And I just want to see you happy.h gYes, because youfre happy.h gThank you, Sonomi-chan. Thank you for understanding.h An sudden silence fell upon the two, each thinking of something to say. gSo what are you going to do now?h Sonomi asked. gTell Fujitaka-san how I feel. After he told me how he felt, he said he would wait until I gave him my answer.h She smiled and ran out the bedroom door, descended the stairs and took out her coat from the closet and put in on her shoulders when she got at the entrance. gNadeshiko-chan!h Sonomi cried when she joined her best friend. gWhere are you going?h gTo see Fujitaka-san. To tell him how I feel.h gBut itfs too late! Itfs pitch-black outside! Besides, do you even know where he lives!?h gOf course I do! And donft worry, Ifll be alright.h She ran out the door and down the pathway. gWish me luck!h she yelled. And then she was gone. Gone to see her one true love. gGood luck, my precious Nadeshikoh Sonomi whispered. She then let her tears fall freely. The End * * * Well thatfs it! I hope youfve enjoyed it. Sonomi might seem a little bit out of character but I wanted her that way. I wanted her to support Nadeshikofs decision.
